We got the ferry back over after our exciting safari day, and after a couple of failed attempts at finding a free spot to park finally chanced upon a walkers car park at 10pm for a bit of kip.
In the morning Adam and Eddie went for a lakeside bike ride while Cat and Sam went for a wander (and ate pastries, don’t tell Eddie!). We then moved on aiming to get a load of boring shopping faff done before heading to Berlin.

Many Euros down after a trip to Aldi and Decathalon we headed into the town centre on the S-bahn to Alexanderplatz to go up the TV tower, one of the things we’d not done last time we were there cos we were too tight to pay the entrance fee. Turned out to be well worth forking out the €50 euro for entry for us all in the end, the view was incredible with the most comprehensive tour of Berlin in info signs you could ever get! Shame Eddie’s capacity for hanging around not terrorising other people didn’t really allow for as much reading as we would have liked but hey ho we still all enjoyed it!

After a doner and more currywurst for a treat fast food dinner we found a nice foresty spot to kip
Next stop: Tropical Islands! A massive old zeppelin making hangar turned tropical paradise (with many, many waterslides!). The best deal we could get for it also happened to include camping for 2 nights and 3 days at the place which we thought we’d be bored of way before then. Turns out not. We spent 3 full days there trying out every waterslide, tearing around the soft play, eating our weights in food at the evening buffets and exploring the flamingo and turtle filled rainforest cultivated there, mostly without ever having to wear any more than swimwear!

Just to make sure it wasn’t all plain sailing, Adam managed to break a toe whilst being very very manly and laying towels over a couple of deckchairs before his early morning swim…. warning for the sqeamish, picture below!

Handily, the unorthodox technique of water rapids and tube slides straightened out the damaged digit before Cat arrived to save me from the first aiders and be the awesome doctor and strap it to another toe. Only offering the painkillers after that was done….
Feeling very relaxed, and after 3 days in water and 4 loads of laundry finally clean again, it was time to move on.
