Time to (slowly) start heading home! We decided to break the journey in Florence so reluctantly left Palazzola to head north. We found en route something we’d tagged from the start of our trip, having seen it in miniatur wunderland and thought it looked fun- Sacro Bosco or ‘Park of Monsters’. We picniced on the lawns then found giant sculptures of a tortoise, elephant, roman gods and a cavern hewn out of the rock in a yawning monsters mouth and generally had an excellent leg stretch before hopping back in the van to head to Florence.

We parked outside the city again along the river so Eddie could have a bike ride in- Adam with him on the way there and me with him on the way back owing to us still only having one adult bike with us! We met in town to admire sculptures and galleries in Central Florence then wandered to the duomo to find a pizza restaurant and a gelato before heading back to the van.

We got an hours drive in that evening then continued driving north via nothing much more interesting than a Lidl the next day- next stop, Switzerland!
